Today saw the induction service for the Rev. Elaine W McKinnon MA BD take place at Newarthill and Carfin Parish Church. Rev. McKinnon comes to us from The West Kirk, Dumbarton. The evening saw the sanctuary filled to capacity with tremendous singing, a lovely service moderated by Rev. Dr. Lindsay Schluter and a powerful sermon delivered by Rev Derek Hughes. Following the formal part of the evening, a cup of tea and a cake or 2, the congregation attended a small welcoming social. At the social floral presentations were made to Rev Sharon Colvin, who has been the interim Moderator and Locum Minister for over 5 years and to the Rev Elaine McKinnon. Father Robert Kane from St Teresa’s chapel formally welcomed The Rev McKinnon to the community and “The Elders Choir” performed their well rehearsed version of Amazing Grace. A vote of thanks was given by the Session Clerk Ann Pickering. After such a longer period of vacancy the office bearers and members look forward to a long and blessed ministry.
